Founded in 1997, Banco Angolano de Investimentos (BAI) is the largest bank in Angola by total assets and one of the country’s two BODIVA-listed financial institutions. With a balance sheet of approximately Kz 3.2 trillion and a 20%+ market share, BAI anchors Angola’s banking sector and operates the most extensive ATM and digital banking network in the country.
Strategic position
BAI is the preferred banking partner for technology companies entering the Angolan market and the most active commercial bank participant in the BNA’s regulatory sandbox. Its 2024–2026 technology budget of approximately $120 million makes it the largest private-sector technology investor in Angola’s financial services industry.
Listed status
BAI is one of two banks listed on BODIVA (alongside BFA), with shares trading at approximately Kz 100,500 (2026). Its position on the exchange makes it a benchmark for Angolan banking-sector valuation.
