Zaire is Angola’s northwesternmost province, named after the Zaire (Congo) River. The provincial capital M’Banza-Kongo was the historic seat of the Kingdom of Kongo and a UNESCO World Heritage candidate. The province also hosts the Soyo LNG terminal and major offshore oil infrastructure.
